Scion tC AEM Cold Air Intake
Scion tC is a compact car introduced by Japanese automaker Toyota in 2004 as a concept car under its recently introduced Scion brand name. Toyota later debuted the production tC at the 2004 NAIAS with sales beginning in June 2004. The Scion tC is generally considered Toyota's successor to the Celica whose production ended with the 2006 model year. The name tC does not fit in with its stalemates the xA, xB, and xD, because the name xC has already been taken by Volvo for its XC60, XC70 and XC90 models. According to Scion, tC stands for "Touring Coupe."
The Scion tC was designed to appeal to the Generation Y market. They hoped to do so by making standard features numerous and optional features extremely easy to add. The Scion tC uses the chassis of the Avensis which is sold in the European market, and the Camry's 2.4 L 2AZ-FE I4 engine.
The Scion tC is a powerful car right off the dealer's showroom floor but many people want more. One of the easiest and relatively low cost upgrades for your Scion tC is to install an aftermarket Cold Air Intake system. A Cold Air Intake will give you more horsepower and torque. One of the best cold air intake systems available today is the Cold Air Intake made by Advanced Engine Management.
Will an AEM cold air intake void my new car warranty. NO. The only time this can happen is from improper installation that causes damage to a vehicle system. If a service technician denies your warranty claim ONLY because the car is modified with an AEM's cold air intake system and the vehicle system failure was not a direct result of the installation and use of an AEM's air intake, please refer him to the Magnusson Moss Warranty act. You can download the Magnusson Moss Warranty act from SEMA's website.
The majority of AEM's cold air intake system designs mount to a vehicle in two locations. One mounting location is to the engine at the throttle body and the "cold" or filter end of the inlet pipe mounts to the body of the car. The movement of the engine on the engine mounts allows it to rock inside the engine bay, so AEM compensates for engine motion by using a soft mount that provides a flexible link for the inlet pipe between the engine and the body of the car. If you do not install the soft mount properly the inlet tube may break at the bracket weld and void the warranty on the air intake system. The instructions that are provided include a detailed diagram of proper installation of the soft mount.
