The WeaponR Cold Airbox System is a joint effort with Monster Moto to bring to you a quality heat shield for your Weapon*R Intake of choose.  The Weapon*R Cold Airbox System by Monster Moto is constructed of high quality aluminum to shield horspower-robbing heat from the filter.  The Weapon*R Cold Airbox System by Monster Moto isolates the filter in the engine compartment away from dirt and water, which can cause serious engine damage.  By isolating the filter and allowing the engine to draw air from a cold source in the engine compartment, away from horsepower robbing heat.  Each Weapon*R Cold Airbox System is precision cut and folded for easy installation and a clean fit every time.  You never have to worry anymore about driving on a rainy day.  The Weapon*R Cold Airbox System is the answer to the enthusiasts who want cold air intake performance, but are wary of the dangers that come with conventional cold air kits.  Weapon*R Cold Airbox System by Monster Moto comes with an easy installation instruction sheet.  Cold Air Intake is sold separately.

Before making any purchase it is imperative to educate yourself about the product. The following information on heat protection is broken into two categories: Insulators and Thermal Barriers.

Heat Shields & Thermal Barriers-The most widely used heat shields and thermal barriers are comprised mostly of aluminum, but also can include other forms of metal or alloys such as stainless steel (1800°F continuous) and inconell (2200°F continuous). Aluminum materials melt at 1227°F and are designed to be used as shields, not insulators. Moreover, aluminum reflects radiant heat away, often exceeding more than 90% efficiency with 1000°F of continuous radiant heat (radiant heat means it is placed with at least a minimum 1" air gap from heat source). Otherwise, they can withstand up to 500°F of a direct heat source. Cloth, tapes, and other aluminum heat shields all fall within the above mentioned parameters.
